Career conversations will be much more effective if you can clearly summarize your message as it relates to hiring managers’, business partners’ and/or customers’ needs and preferences. Whether you are pursuing new or promotional roles, your ability to clearly and effectively communicate your capabilities to meet other parties’ needs and preferences will help set you ahead of the competition. But, summarizing isn't easy - whether in a written or verbal format, people struggle with summarizing their message(s). So, here are two communications frameworks to help.
SOAR*:
S= Situation
O=Obstacles
A=Actions
R=results
This is my preferred framework, which I always use in career coaching work with Lee Hecht Harrison* clientele. Thousands of clients have found it incredibly useful and effective. You will too!
Another framework is PARS:
P= Problem
A=Actions
R=Results
S=Skills
We'll discuss navigating career conversations with communications frameworks during webinar sessions this month and next. But, the tip this week provides two frameworks, so you can get started today.
